Just wanted to show a little demo of both this amazing old bass from the famous Matsumoku factory, I bought it because I was obsessed with Kim Deal and wanted to copy her in everything lol. Using it to take this new JOYO bass amp from Amazon for a test spin, for ~$50 I honestly don't know of a better value option for bedroom practice. Nice basic thumpy bass tone with a nice crisp upper end attack and a fuzzy distortion setting, I absolutely recommend!
I don't think this PJ Harvey song has ever been officially released but I absolutely loved this era in 93 during the Rid of Me tour when she had a little collection of unreleased funky blues songs (Primed & Ticking, Naked Cousin, Wang Dang Doodle) she was performing alongside her album tracks. I'm honestly so impressed with Lil Nas X and everything he is doing to push and clear a space for LGBTQ+ artists transcending not just the hip hop space but the pop culture space, and in his own right on his own merit as an artist and not just as a novelty.
